BISP Payment Increase 2027: Quarterly Stipend Rises to Rs 19,500 from January

The Pakistan government is expanding the Benazir Income Support Programme to protect vulnerable citizens from rising costs. These updates ensure that financial aid reaches those who need it most through a more transparent digital system.

Officials confirmed that the quarterly Benazir Kafalat stipend has already risen from Rs. 13,500 to Rs. 14,500 as of March 2026. This boost provides immediate relief during the current fiscal cycle. However, the most significant change lies ahead. By January 2027, the government plans to raise the quarterly payment further to Rs. 19,500. This shift aims to maintain the purchasing power of over 10 million registered households.

New Stipend Totals and Education Bonuses

The 2026–2027 roadmap introduces higher amounts across all BISP wings. Beyond the base Kafalat cash, the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif (educational scholarships) now offers up to Rs. 5,000 for high school girls. This encourage families to keep children in school despite economic pressure. Additionally, the Benazir Nashonuma program for maternal health has seen a Rs. 500 increase per beneficiary.

The government is moving away from general power subsidies. Instead, it will use BISP data to provide direct cash transfers for utility bills. This ensures that only the lowest-income families receive electricity and gas rebates. The World Bank is currently assisting in identifying the bottom 40% of consumers for this transition by late 2026.

Mandatory NSER Survey Update

BISP now requires a “Live” Dynamic Survey. If you have not updated your household info in the last three years, your payments might stop. You must visit a BISP Tehsil office with your original CNIC to complete the NSER recertification.
