Blast in Islamabad Today: 31 Martyred in Tarlai Imambargah Attack

A suicide bomber struck the Imambargah and Masjid Khadijat-ul-Kubra in Tarlai, Islamabad, during Friday prayers today. The attack killed 31 worshippers and injured over more than 150 others. Authorities confirm the bomber belonged to Fitna-ul-Khawarij. Hospitals in the capital are currently under an emergency alert as PIMS reaches full capacity.
The federal capital witnessed a tragic day as a suicide bomber targeted worshippers at the Tarlai imambargah. The explosion occurred right as the Friday congregation began. Emergency responders rushed to the scene in Tarlai, Islamabad.
Police officials confirmed that the Islamabad blast resulted in the martyrdom of 31 innocent people. The attacker attempted to enter the main hall of Masjid Khadijat-ul-Kubra. Security at the gate stopped him, but he detonated his vest immediately.
The blast in Islamabad today has overwhelmed local medical facilities. Authorities moved 150 injured survivors to PIMS Hospital. The facility has now exhausted its bed capacity. Rescue teams are shifting additional victims to other hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Pakistan news outlets report that the bomber was affiliated with Fitna-ul-Khawarij. Law enforcement agencies and the bomb disposal squad are currently collecting evidence from the Tarlai blast site.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss the Islamabad blast today. He ordered a thorough probe to find the facilitators of this blast in Islamabad. The PM vowed exemplary punishment for those spreading insecurity.
The Health Minister is now overseeing medical care for the survivors. Security across the city remains on high alert following this tarlai imambargah attack.
