Budget 2026–27: Major Salary Increase Expected, Latest Update Revealed

ISLAMABAD: The coalition partner of the government, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has presented its demands and proposals regarding the upcoming budget.

According to sources, the Pakistan Peoples Party has shared budget proposals with the government aimed at providing relief to the poor and salaried class.

The PPP has demanded a 50% increase in the salaries and pensions of government employees in view of the country’s economic situation and rising inflation.

PPP sources say the party believes that, considering the current level of inflation, an increase in salaries and pensions has become unavoidable.

In addition, the Pakistan Peoples Party has also proposed increasing the minimum monthly wage for the working class in the country.

Sources further reveal that the PPP has strongly opposed any new taxes or an increase in the petroleum levy in the budget.

The party stated that the government is already collecting excessive taxes and levies from the public, and further burdening citizens would be unjust.
