Lahore reported its first case of the prevailing Omicron variant of the coronavirus on Tuesday.
The development was confirmed by the Punjab Health Department.
According to sources, the patient hails from Bahawalpur and has a travel history from Sindh. The infected person is currently being treated at home.
Health department sources said 12 others who came in contact with the patient have been tested. Their results are currently awaited.
The National Command and Operation Centre said the positivity rate in Pakistan is currently 0.69 per cent.
Around 291 Covid cases have been confirmed overnight. Three patients also succumbed to the disease.
Pakistan has so far reported two confirmed and over 35 suspected cases of Omicron.
