In anticipation of the auspicious occasion of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has announced an extensive traffic plan to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the celebrations. This plan aims to provide the best possible traffic facilities to the citizens while maintaining safety and order on the city’s roads.
Enhanced Deployment:
To manage the increased traffic flow, more than 455 traffic police officers and traffic wardens will be on special duty. Their presence will be instrumental in maintaining order and facilitating the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Restrictions on Parking:
As part of the plan, parking of vehicles and handcarts along the routes of the Milad processions will be strictly prohibited. This measure is essential to ensure that the processions can move without hindrance.
Procession Details:
Two main processions are scheduled for the day. The first procession will commence at 10:00 AM from Jamia Masjid Hanafia Jamia Masjid Road. It will follow a designated route through Pul Shah Nazar, Bani Chowk, Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Liaquat Road, Fawara Chowk, Dungi Khoi, and return to its starting point. Temporary diversions will be set up along the procession route to manage traffic flow effectively.
Traffic Diversions:
To streamline traffic, specific diversions have been planned. Traffic heading from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be diverted from the Jang Building U-turn toward Kachhari Chowk. Similarly, traffic moving from Liaquat Bagh to Fawara Chowk will be redirected from DAV College toward Gawalmandi.
Second Procession:
The second procession will begin at 9:30 AM from Chongi No. 22, covering areas such as Tench Road, Dhok Syedan Chowk, Kalma Chowk, No. 22 Chowk, and more before concluding at GTS Chowk. During this procession, traffic will be redirected along designated routes to minimize disruptions.
Road Closures:
It’s important to note that Murree Road from Marrir Chowk to Benazir Bhutto Hospital will be temporarily closed during the main procession. Traffic heading from Islamabad to Rawalpindi will be directed to Rawal Road, while Islamabad-bound traffic from Saddar, Rawalpindi, will be diverted toward Katchery Chowk from Marrir.
Heavy Traffic Restrictions:
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Taimoor Khan, has announced that heavy traffic will not be permitted during the Milad procession. Additionally, officials have been instructed to remove any encroachments along the procession routes and maintain a vigilant eye on suspicious activities. Delinquent officials will face strict disciplinary action.
