Dr Yasmin Rashid Death Rumors Debunked as PTI Confirms She Is Alive

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly denied rumors circulating on social media about the death of senior party leader Dr Yasmin Rashid, confirming that she is alive and currently detained at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The statement followed reports that Dr Yasmin Rashid had been taken to hospital and died in critical condition at the hospital after suffering a serious illness in police custody. The rumors then took to various social media platforms, which soon led to an official reaction from the party.

PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram rejected the claims as utterly untrue and groundless in a statement shared on the social media platform X.

Sheikh Waqas Akram wrote that “Thank God, Dr Yasmin Rashid is alive and is in Kot Lakhpat Jail, she is still in the middle of what I believe is an illegal detention and a very severe environment of what we may call this government’s terror regime”.

He stressed that every news report about the alleged death of Dr Yasmin Rashid has nothing to do with reality.

Sheikh Waqas Akram also urged PTI workers, supporters and the public not to trust or spread unverifiable rumors about the veteran politician. He advised people not to use unofficial information but to stick with official statements.

Rumors had spread that Dr Yasmin Rashid’s condition had suddenly worsened in Kot Lakhpat Jail and that she died during her treatment in the hospital. Despite this, PTI has vehemently denied these claims and confirmed that the senior leader is alive and in custody.

The party’s clarification comes at a time when misinformation has become a growing concern on social media, prompting PTI to encourage the masses to check news from reliable and official sources before passing on any information.
