Education Minister Confirms Schools in Punjab to Remain Open on Wednesday 18 October

Schools in Punjab to Remain Open on Wednesday- In a recent update, the interim Punjab Education Minister, Mansoor Qadir, has declared that educational institutions in the province will not be closed this Wednesday, October 18. This decision comes amidst ongoing discussions about the possibility of shutting down schools and offices on Wednesdays in response to the severe smog conditions in the region.

Fortunately, the air quality in Lahore, the provincial capital most affected by smog, has shown signs of improvement due to recent rainfall. This positive development has prompted the government to postpone any closure decisions for now.

Mansoor Qadir emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the smog issue and stated that weekly meetings will be held to make informed decisions in the future.

During the press conference, interim Information Minister Aamir Mir highlighted the health concerns associated with smog and stressed the importance of raising awareness. He also mentioned that the government has taken measures to mitigate the smog’s impact, including imposing Section 144 to restrict certain vehicular activities that could exacerbate the smog situation.

This decision to keep schools open on October 18 is a welcome relief for students and parents, and the government remains vigilant in its efforts to combat smog-related challenges.
