Electricity Consumers in Pakistan Likely to Get Massive Relief

KARACHI: A major relief of Rs 63.94 billion is expected for electricity consumers across the country, including K-Electric users.
According to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), distribution companies (DISCOs) have submitted a request for the first-quarter adjustment of the calendar year 2026.
NEPRA will hear this request on May 19, and the final decision regarding the relief for consumers will be made after the hearing.
Slight relief for electricity consumers: 1 paisa per unit reduction
According to the application, there has been a reduction of Rs 36.83 billion under capacity charges for January to March, while Rs 11.24 billion has been reduced under system usage charges and market operation fees.
The DISCOs’ request also includes a reduction of Rs 23.51 billion under incremental units.
