Fawad Chaudhry criticized as Election Commission Prohibits PTI’s Labour Day Rally

Fawad Chaudhry, the Senior Vice-President of the PTI, criticized the ECP on Sunday for biased behavior. This was in response to the ECP’s notice to PTI Chairman Imran Khan, requesting that he suspend the Labour Day rally. Chaudhry accused the ECP of creating obstacles by taking this action.

Chaudhry expressed surprise and disappointment at the ECP for prohibiting the PTI rally. He highlighted that Labour Day is a day of global solidarity with workers. He also expressed concerns about the ECP’s unexpected decision.

In a video posted on the PTI’s Twitter account, Chaudhry responded to the notice given by the ECP prohibiting rallies. He stated that the purpose of Labour Day is for workers to assert their rights and that the ECP’s decision was disappointing.

The ECP issued a notice to Imran Khan regarding the Labour Day rally. The notice stated that the ECP was informed of Khan’s plan to lead the rally from Liberty Chowk to Nasir Bagh.

The ECP notice stated that permission from the district administration is mandatory for rallies and processions. The notice emphasized that holding a rally without prior permission is a breach of the ECP’s code of conduct.


Previously, Fawad Chaudhry announced on Twitter that the PTI plans to hold rallies from May 1 onwards. The reason was taken in case negotiations with the PDM-led government fail. Despite hoping for a positive outcome, the party has developed a strategy in case the talks with the ruling coalition

The rallies may serve as a means of mobilizing support for the PTI’s political objectives and priorities. He declared that the PTI Chairman, Imran Khan, will lead rallies. The rallies are destined in Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar, and urged supporters to prepare for a significant demonstration.
