Bilawal stated that he intended to conduct meetings with his Russian and Uzbekistani counterparts before attending the formal dinner.

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s trip to India marks the first visit by a foreign minister of Pakistan to India since July 2011, when Hina Rabbani Khar visited for peace talks. The visit comes amid a challenging time in the relationship between the two nuclear-armed arch-rivals, which has deteriorated due to several factors.
