Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that the Punjab government will distribute 100,000 electric bikes for students across the province this year. The initiative aims to improve transportation facilities for students while promoting the use of eco-friendly electric vehicles.
Speaking at a ceremony in Arifwala, the chief minister shared details of the Punjab electric bike scheme. She said that female students will receive electric bikes without paying any down payment, making the program more accessible for women pursuing education.
For male students, the government has introduced an affordable payment plan. They will required to pay a Rs. 15,000 down payment, followed by monthly installments of Rs. 2,000. While announcing the scheme, Maryam Nawaz humorously remarked, “Sorry, boys,” drawing smiles from the audience.
The Punjab CM electric bike scheme is part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to make education more accessible by reducing transportation challenges faced by students. The initiative also supports the adoption of electric vehicles, helping promote environmentally friendly transport across Punjab.
Although the announcement has made, the Punjab government has not yet released the complete eligibility criteria, application process, or registration schedule. These details expected to be announced in the coming days.
