Gas Prices Hiked Massively In Pakistan

The federal government have hiked the gas prices massively in Pakistan amid the soaring inflation in the country.

The caretaker government has issued a notification announcing a significant increase in gas prices set to take effect on November 1.

The hike will apply to various sectors, including domestic, export, non-export units, CNG, cement, and more.

However, consumers using 25 to 90 cubic meters of gas per month, categorized as protected consumers, won’t face price increases.

Nevertheless, the fixed charges for this consumer category have been raised from Rs. 10 to Rs. 400.

For non-protected domestic consumers, the gas prices have been increased by over 172%. The new prices for consumers based on their consumption are as follows:

– 25 cubic meters: Raised from Rs. 200 to Rs. 300 per mmBtu.

– 60 cubic meters: Increased from Rs. 300 to Rs. 600 per mmBtu.

– 100 cubic meters: Hiked from Rs. 400 to Rs. 1,000 per mmBtu.

– 150 cubic meters: Raised from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1,200 per mmBtu.

– 200 cubic meters: Increased from Rs. 800 to Rs. 1,600 per mmBtu.

– 300 cubic meters: Hiked from Rs. 1,100 to Rs. 3,000 per mmBtu.

– 400 cubic meters: Raised from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,500 per mmBtu.

– Over 400 cubic meters: Increased from Rs. 3,100 to Rs. 4,000 per mmBtu.

– Tandoors: Maintained at Rs. 600 per mmBtu.

– Power plants: Set at Rs. 1,050 per mmBtu.

– Cement sector: Fixed at Rs. 4,400 per mmBtu.

– CNG sector: Set at Rs. 3,600 per mmBtu.

– Export units: Established at Rs. 2,100 per mmBtu.

– Non-export units: Fixed at Rs. 2,200 per mmBtu.

This price adjustment aims to address the increasing costs associated with gas supply and distribution in Pakistan.
