Government Announces Subsidy for Boat Owners After Fuel Price Increase

PAKISTAN: The rise in petrol and diesel prices has led to a 20% decline in the fishing sector. So, the government announces the subsidy for the boat owners after the fuel price increase.

Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Muhammad Ali Malkani, said that the increase in petroleum product prices has left thousands of people unemployed.

In a statement, Muhammad Ali Malkani said that a new scheme is being introduced under which each boat owner will receive between Rs100,000 and Rs200,000.

Under the scheme, the government will provide financial assistance to 9,634 registered boat owners.

Owners of large boats will receive Rs200,000 per boat, while owners of small boats will be given Rs100,000 per boat as a subsidy.

He added that this initiative is a one-time payment aimed at covering two months of fuel expenses, and the subsidy will be distributed digitally.
