In an announcement that could spell relief for commuters and freight customers, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, has called on transporters to lower their fares and freight charges. This move comes in response to the government’s substantial reduction in petroleum product prices.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Minister Solangi revealed that the government has taken significant steps by reducing petrol and diesel prices by Rs 40 and Rs 15, respectively.
Historically, whenever the prices of these essential products surged, the transport sector promptly raised their freight charges and transportation fares, placing additional financial burdens on the public. However, the tables have now turned, as Minister Solangi asserts that it is the responsibility of transporters to provide much-needed relief to the masses by decreasing these charges.
