Heavy Rain Hits Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Nullah Lai Water Levels Rise

Heavy rain flooded roads in Islamabad and Rawalpindi early Wednesday morning. Water levels in Nullah Lai crossed dangerous marks.

Sector E-11 in Islamabad received 113 millimeters of rain. Water inside Nullah Lai rose quickly to 21.5 feet at Katarian and 17.5 feet at Gowalmandi.

Due to the rise in water levels, sirens were sounded at warning posts, and instructions were issued to citizens living in low-lying areas to move to safer places. The administration has also started the process of evacuating citizens in the areas of Gowalmandi and Katarian.

The administration has urged citizens to take precautionary measures, directing them to avoid entering and crossing rivers.

Rain to Continue in Islamabad

According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent rain is likely to continue in Islamabad. The sky will stay partly cloudy. The temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius in the morning, while the maximum temperature is likely to reach 37 degrees. Humidity remained above 71 percent.

The Met Office also predicted thunderstorms in Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Gilgit-Baltistan will stay partly cloudy.

Weather in Lahore and Karachi

Lahore remained hot and humid, with temperatures around 32 degrees Celsius. Temperatures could go up to 36 degrees Celsius later today. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain later in the day.

Karachi stayed partly cloudy and humid with a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius. Light drizzle is expected in parts of the city. Temperatures may reach up to 35 degrees Celsius.
