Imran Khan Arrested in Al-Qadir Trust Case Outside IHC Premises

The leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, taken into custody by the Rangers at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday afternoon. Imran Khan was attending two hearings at the IHC when the unexpected event occurred, leaving many stunned.

Upon receiving confirmation of Imran Khan’s arrest by PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq took swift action. He immediately directed the Islamabad police chief, interior ministry secretary, and additional attorney general to appear in court within 15 minutes.

While addressing the sudden arrest of Imran Khan, the IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq stated that he was exercising restraint. However, he made it clear that he would summon the prime minister if the Islamabad police chief failed to appear before the court. Justice Farooq demanded that the officials explain the reason behind Imran Khan’s arrest and provide details on the case. “Come to court and tell us why has Imran arrested and in which case,” he said. The situation remains tense as the court awaits the appearance of the concerned officials.

Imran Khan’s arrest at the Islamabad High Court follows his accusations against a serving senior intelligence officer. Imran had previously accused the officer of involvement in the assassination attempt against him in Wazirabad and reiterated his claims in a video message today. The incident comes after the military rejected Imran’s accusations.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s detention comes after several unsuccessful attempts to arrest him, including a police raid at his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park, which he managed to evade successfully.

PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to express his concerns, stating that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) “occupied by the Rangers,” and lawyers subjected to torture. He also added that Imran Khan’s car had surrounded.

The PTI’s official Twitter account shared a video of Khan’s lawyer. The lawyer was reportedly badly injured outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The video has caused outrage on social media, with many demanding an explanation for the reported violence against lawyers.

The Islamabad police have announced the imposition of Section 144 in the capital city. Meanwhile, the police denied the PTI’s allegations of people torturing and stated that they had only encircled Imran Khan’s car. The situation remains tense, and further developments expected to unfold soon.
