Iran President Visit Pakistan: Road Closures Announced for April 23 in Karachi

In anticipation of the Iranian President’s visit, Karachi is tightening its security measures. The city’s traffic police have announced road closures on April 23, affecting several key routes.

Road Closures in Karachi

The Club Road from PIDC to Metropole will be entirely off-limits. Dr. Ziauddin Road will be inaccessible from Ziauddin Signal to PIDC Chowk, and Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Road will be closed from Khajoor Chowk to PIDC.

Alternative Routes on 23rd April 2024

To ensure smooth traffic flow, alternative routes have been outlined. Commuters from Sultanabad will be rerouted to Khajoor Chowk, Aiwan-e-Sadar Road via PIDC Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Road. Those heading from Sharea Faisal to Sultanabad can turn left from Club Chowk, proceed through Clifton Bridge and Boat Basin.

Traffic from Khaliquz Zaman Road, Ghizri, can take a right at Ziauddin signal and a left at Hoshan Chowk, leading to Fawara Chowk, Aiwan-e-Sadar via Metropole. Passengers from Shaheen Complex can turn left from Khajoor Chowk towards Aiwan-e-Sadar Road, Awari Tower Clifton, among other areas.

Karachi Hotel Bookings Cancelled

In a separate development, a private hotel has been commandeered by the government from April 22 to 24. All bookings have been cancelled, and shops within the hotel will remain closed.

The Iranian delegation, including the foreign and interior ministers, will be accommodated in the private hotel.

These measures highlight Karachi’s commitment to public safety and the seamless execution of diplomatic engagements amidst security considerations. Commuters are advised to opt for the alternative routes to avoid inconvenience during the road closures.
