Islamabad Bans Petrol Motorcycles to Combat Air Pollution

Islamabad set for a major transformation as Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi announced several pivotal decisions aimed at modernizing the city. At a recent meeting held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters, Naqvi outlined plans to elevate Islamabad to match the world’s leading capitals.

In a significant move towards a greener future, Naqvi declared that the CDA will now exclusively purchase electric bikes, reducing environmental pollution. Furthermore, the city’s public transport will see a shift to electric buses, promising a cleaner and quieter commute for residents.

To enhance emergency services in Islamabad, Naqvi revealed that the newly formed Metropolitan Capital Improvement Company (MCIC) will take over these services from the CDA. This change aims to bring emergency response to international standards, ensuring faster and more efficient assistance.

New departments are also on the horizon. The establishment of Capital WASA and the finalization of the Capital Waste Management Company will focus on improving water and waste management in the city. These steps expected to significantly enhance the quality of life for Islamabad’s residents.

Infrastructure projects are gaining momentum too. Work on the Serena Chowk underpass and F-9 Park Chowk flyover set to commence soon, while the expressway project will expedited to meet deadlines. Naqvi also mentioned the long-awaited completion of Islamabad’s Model Jail, which has been under construction for 17 years, with the first phase nearing completion.

Business in Islamabad is also receiving a boost. New business facilitation centers will provide investors with a range of services under one roof. Additionally, a health tower planned for sector F-16, further enhancing the city’s healthcare infrastructure.

Naqvi praised the CDA for their record tax collection and emphasized the need for sustainable revenue beyond just land sales. He urged officials to develop a comprehensive investment plan to ensure the financial stability and growth of the department.
