Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has been arrested near Nilore Police Station in Islamabad, according to the party and opposition alliance spokesperson Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai.
Yousafzai said Salman Akram Raja had gone to Kotli Sattian to attend the funeral prayers of Ejaz Satti. He was arrested near Nilore Police Station while travelling to the funeral, according to the spokesperson.
PTI also claimed that Raja, MNA from Murree-Kotli Sattian Latasab Satti and other party workers were detained while they were on their way to attend the funeral.
The party alleged that the arrests were intended to prevent people from attending Ejaz Satti’s funeral. PTI said its workers were being detained following Satti’s death.
PTI Raises Objection Over Detentions
The party has criticized the reported arrests and said the detentions were being carried out to stop its workers and supporters from attending the funeral.
The latest development comes amid continued legal and political pressure on PTI leaders. Salman Akram Raja has previously faced arrests and legal proceedings linked to PTI protests. He was also briefly arrested in Lahore earlier this month during a PTI protest and was later released.
There was no independent police confirmation of the latest arrest available at the time of reporting.
