Islamabad Welcomes Its First Fleet of Eco-Friendly Buses

In a progressive move towards a sustainable future, the government is ushering in a new era of eco-friendly transportation in the capital city. Following the successful introduction of electric cars and two-wheelers, the spotlight is now on electric buses, marking a significant stride towards a cleaner and greener tomorrow.

Reports indicate that Islamabad is set to be the epicenter of this sustainable mobility initiative. Building on the success of electric buses introduced by the Sindh government in Karachi last year, a Chinese company has unveiled the first fleet of electric buses in the capital.

The unveiling ceremony, graced by Pakistani authorities, emphasized the collaborative efforts dedicated to modernizing public transportation. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has secured approval for the deployment of 30 cutting-edge electric buses, with ambitious plans for a total fleet of 160, solidifying their commitment to an environmentally conscious public transportation system.

The CDA’s blueprint includes the integration of electric buses across 13 public routes in the federal capital, seamlessly connecting with the existing Rawalpindi Islamabad Metro Bus routes. Initial routes from IJP Road to PIMS and Taramri Chowk to PIMS have been strategically chosen, offering residents a cleaner and quieter alternative for their daily commute.

This initiative not only reduces carbon emissions but also sets the stage for a sustainable public transportation system, embracing the future of clean and efficient mobility in Islamabad. With a robust charging infrastructure in place, the city is poised for a green revolution that is sure to inspire other metropolises to follow suit in the quest for a sustainable tomorrow.
