Once again, the heart of Islamabad faces road closures as the administration has placed heavy containers in key areas, causing disruptions for commuters. D-Chowk, a hotspot for political activities, has been sealed off with barriers, creating hurdles for those traveling through the city’s central zones.
The road leading from Khyber Plaza in Blue Area to D-Chowk is entirely blocked with containers, leaving regular travelers looking for alternate routes. Likewise, the road from NADRA Chowk to D-Chowk has also been closed, adding to the traffic woes of the city’s residents. Those hoping to pass through D-Chowk into the high-security Red Zone have faced roadblocks for some time now, with containers placed there earlier.
These closures are not new for Islamabad, especially given its reputation as a political hub where gatherings and protests often lead to such measures. Residents, however, find themselves caught in the middle, grappling with detours, traffic jams, and delays. Office workers, shopkeepers, and daily commuters in the Blue Area and nearby localities have raised concerns about how these repeated closures disrupt their routines and businesses.
While the administration claims such steps are necessary for maintaining security, the everyday citizen bears the brunt of the inconvenience. Many have taken to social media, voicing their frustrations over the lack of alternate arrangements or timely communication regarding the closures.
