Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ameer-ul-Azeem Passes Away, Funeral Prayer Today in Lahore

The funeral prayer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Secretary General Ameer-ul-Azeem will be offered today, Thursday, July 23, 2026, after Asr prayers at 5:15 p.m. at Jamia Masjid Mansoorah, Lahore.

Senior-most Leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer-ul-Azeem died after a prolonged battle with cancer. Though sick, he remained steadfast in his organizational and political duties, winning him respect for his commitment and persistence until his last days.

Ameer-ul-Azeem was the Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan who was instrumental in the broadening and deepening of the party’s organizational system and contributing to the formu-lation of party plans and policies, and training party activists throughout the country. He was a man of principle, was simple, had great intellectual power and was close to the grassroots workers, and one of the most respected of the party.

His public life started from his youthful days as a student member of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT). He was the Nazim of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Lahore and then became Nazim-e-Aala of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Pakistan. He also elected the President of the Punjab University Students Union during his tenure as a student leader.

After a student career, Ameer-ul-Azeem served in several high-ranking roles in Jamaat-e-Islami, such as Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Secretary Information of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and twice as Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan.

In political and religious activities, Ameer-ul-Azeem worked tirelessly for the spread of Islamic values, democratic struggle and rule of law of Pakistan, and the supremacy of its constitution. He continued to be a prominent speaker on national issues for Jamaat-e-Islami and his speeches, writings and ideological guidance continued to inspire generations of party workers.

The Ameer-ul-Azeem funeral prayer expected to attend by senior political and religious leaders, Jamaat-e-Islami members, supporters, and a large number of citizens who will gather at Jamia Masjid Mansoorah Lahore to pay their final respects.
