Jamaat-e-Islami to Protest at Sindh Governor House Tomorrow

In a move to address the growing concerns of skyrocketing electricity prices and petroleum taxes, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has announced a protest sit-in scheduled for Friday, October 6th, at the Sindh Governor House. The party aims to shed light on the heavy burden placed on the common people due to these issues, while landlords and the ruling elite enjoy privileges such as free electricity and petrol.

The protest is a response to what many perceive as unjust agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), which have resulted in exorbitant electricity bills and excessive taxation. These issues have left the three and a half million residents of Karachi grappling with financial hardship.

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Siraj ul Haq, is set to address the participants during the sit-in, emphasizing the urgency of addressing these problems. The move comes in the wake of the party’s historic 29-day sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly in January last year, where they drew attention to similar issues.

Preparations for the October 6th sit-in are underway, with various committees actively working to ensure its success. Jamaat-e-Islami’s commitment to advocating for the rights of ordinary citizens against unfair electricity pricing and petroleum taxes reflects a growing demand for change and transparency in Pakistan’s energy policies.
