In Karachi, Jinnah International Airport experienced a temporary power outage due to a severe storm that swept through the area. Passengers had a challenging time during check-in procedures as strong winds buffeted the airport. Furthermore, a private airline had difficulty landing its aircraft in the adverse weather conditions.
It is worth noting that the city’s weather took a positive turn after a late-night drizzle in various parts of Karachi. Reports indicate that rain was observed in several areas, including Liaquatabad, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulistan Johar, Gurmandar, Nazimabad, and Lasbela.
The Meteorological Department has attributed these weather anomalies to the influence of the western wind system on Sindh. They predict that Karachi may experience cloudy conditions and light rain over the next two days.
In addition to the airport disruptions, electricity supply was also interrupted in numerous areas of the city, including Clifton. Karachi East was particularly affected by strong winds and dust storms, which significantly reduced visibility. Even the Meteorological Department’s office experienced a power outage, and their backup generator was non-functional. K Electric officials reported that there were no major power breakdowns in the city, only minor tripping incidents.
