Karachi Crime Rises as Phone Snatching, Killings Increase

The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has released its report on street crime incidents in Karachi for the month of April, revealing an increase in mobile phone snatching cases across the city.
According to the report, there were 1,265 incidents of mobile phone snatching in March, which increased to 1,624 cases in April.
Cases of motorcycle snatching also saw a rise during April. A total of 440 motorcycles were snatched in March, compared to 469 incidents reported in April. Similarly, incidents of car snatching increased, with 17 vehicles snatched in March and 22 in April.
However, motorcycle theft cases showed a decline. The report stated that 3,027 motorcycles were stolen in March, while 2,723 theft cases were recorded in April. Car theft incidents also decreased, dropping from 140 cases in March to 111 in April.
The report further noted a slight decrease in murder cases in the city. A total of 44 people were killed in March, compared to 42 murders reported in April.
