Karachi: Residents of Karachi are expected to experience intense heat on Sunday, 31 May, as the city’s feels-like temperature could rise between 46°C and 47°C, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The Met Office has predicted that the real maximum temperature for Karachi could reach 37°C while high humidity is anticipated to make the weather appear even hotter.
The highest temperature reading in the city on Saturday was 36.6°C, officials reported. However, with the moisture in the air and the sea breezes, residents are likely to experience much higher temperatures during the day.
The current weather forecast indicates that the wind is blowing from the southwest at 25 km/h and the relative humidity is approximately 63%. The rising heat index in the city is attributed to these conditions.
The Meteorological Department has also dispelled clouds of rain in Karachi today, indicating hot and humid weather for the day.
Medical professionals recommend people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary outdoor activity during the peak hours, to drink plenty of water and take measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions as per weather advisory to safeguard themselves against extreme heat as Karachi has been facing hot and humid weather.
