Residents of Karachi may experience temporary power outages today as K-Electric has announced a scheduled maintenance shutdown across multiple areas of the city. The planned work, scheduled for July 31, 2026, is part of the utility company’s routine maintenance to improve the reliability and safety of its electricity distribution network.
According to K-Electric, electricity supply will remain suspended on selected feeders while essential repair and maintenance work is carried out. The duration of the outages will vary depending on the location, with some areas expected to remain without electricity for several hours.
Karachi Areas Affected by K-Electric Maintenance Shutdown
As per the maintenance schedule, the areas likely to be affected include:
- DHA Phase 8
- Gulshan
- IBA
- University of Karachi
- Surjani Town
- Punjab Town
- PNS Haider
- Malir Cantt
- Tariq Villa
- Usmania Colony
- Ziauddin Hospital
- Muslim Gymkhana
- Mehran Tower
- Quetta Town
- Several other nearby localities
Residents in these areas are advised to stay updated through K-Electric’s official channels for feeder-specific information.
Power Outage Timings
K-Electric stated that power shutdowns on some feeders will begin at 8:59 a.m., while others will start from 9:00 a.m. Electricity restoration is expected to begin from 5:29 p.m., with supply in some areas returning by 8:00 p.m., depending on the completion of maintenance work.
K-Electric Advises Consumers to Prepare
The utility company has urged customers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance, especially those relying on electrical appliances or backup systems. Once the scheduled maintenance work is completed, electricity supply will be restored to normal.
The maintenance shutdown is part of K-Electric’s ongoing efforts to ensure a stable and reliable power supply across Karachi by upgrading and maintaining its distribution infrastructure.
