In a groundbreaking move to address the soaring electricity costs in Karachi, Mayor Murtaza Wahab has unveiled an ambitious plan to illuminate 106 roads with solar-powered streetlights. The Mayor, acknowledging the persistent challenges posed by the city’s warm climate and dusty conditions, expressed his commitment to overcoming these obstacles in order to harness the power of solar energy efficiently.
Highlighting the need for innovation, Wahab emphasized that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) aims to implement a meticulous solarization strategy. This plan involves not only installing solar panels to energize streetlights but also includes measures to prevent them from being obscured by dust.
Anticipating swift progress, Mayor Wahab announced the imminent inauguration of 32 roads in the SITE area within the next 10 days. He shed light on the significance of Shahrah-e-Noorjahan, a road constructed by the People’s Party, expressing concern over the presence of flags from another political party. In response, the Mayor revealed plans for the inauguration of a new road in Lyari, promising the prompt completion of development projects in Malir.
