Karachi Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Expected in Karachi, Sindh from July 31 to August 2

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh Karachi weather alert, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds in the city, while several districts across Sindh are also expected to receive widespread rain from July 31 to August 2.

The PMD has said that heavy to very heavy rains are expected in most parts of the interior Sindh during the period of three days. Moderate to heavy rain will also fall on Karachi along with gusty winds and thunderstorms, which may result in urban flooding, traffic jams, and power outages.

The present weather pattern is being influenced by low level monsoon winds in the upper and mid-altitude parts of Pakistan, weather experts said. Moreover, the rainfall producing system is gaining strength due to another westerly system over the northern areas, which is further enhancing the chances of widespread rain over Sindh.

The Meteorological Department has advised the public to be extra cautious in the forecast period and to avoid any unnecessary trips in the flood-prone areas. Authorities have also been urged to take precautionary steps to minimise disruption resulting from heavy rain, such as ensuring adequate drainage, keeping electricity services in good working order and getting emergency response teams ready.
