KARACHI: The port city is expected to continue experiencing hot and humid conditions over the next several days, with daytime temperatures hovering in the mid-30 degrees Celsius, but there is no immediate threat of a heatwave in the metropolis, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday.
The Met Office further said that there would not be any change in weather conditions due to sea breeze, while temperatures in Karachi were estimated to remain at around 36-37°C for the next few days, and humid conditions would persist in the city.
Karachi was expected to be insulated from extreme weather conditions, but Sindh province was facing another threat due to the likely occurrence of a heatwave that could last up to May 15 to 20 or even further.
The department further said that in most of the regions of Sindh, hot to very hot and dry weather would prevail, while heatwave conditions would persist in the interior and upper districts of the province for some time.
In particular, extremely high temperatures were forecast in interior districts such as Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Ghotki, where temperatures were expected to vary from 46°C to 48°C.
