Karachi Weather Update: Monsoon Spell Likely to Bring Rain in Coming Days

As the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) unveils its latest weather forecast, a much-needed respite from the scorching heat seems to be on the horizon for Karachi. The city is gearing up for a potential monsoon spell that is anticipated to bring relief in the coming days.

According to the weather update, moderate monsoon currents are projected to flow in from the Arabian Sea, likely to make their way into the upper regions of the country by the evening of August 22nd. Furthermore, a westerly wave is anticipated to enter these areas on August 23rd, triggering the onset of the monsoon spell.

The forecast indicates that from August 23rd to 27th, various parts of the country, including Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Swat, and Peshawar, are expected to experience rain, wind, and thundershowers. Some areas may even witness moderate to heavy rainfall during this period.

In a broader outlook, the weather forecast extends its reach to regions like Kurram, Dera Ismail Khan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Toba Tek Singh, where rain and wind are anticipated from August 24th to 26th, offering intermittent relief from the prevailing weather conditions.

Karachi residents, in particular, have their eyes on the sky as they await potential rainfall, which is expected to bring a much-needed drop in temperature and a break from the persistent heatwave. While the forecast doesn’t directly mention Karachi, the monsoon currents and weather patterns could extend to the coastal city, offering a chance for its parched residents to enjoy some cooler and wetter days.
