KU Assault Case: Prof. Arif Saqi Reaches Reconciliation with Accused Konin Shah

Karachi University Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Khan Saqi has reached a reconciliation with assault case accused Konin Shah. Shah met the professor at his residence and apologized for the incident.

University of Karachi’s Department of Islamic Learning Chairman Dr Muhammad Arif Khan Saqi confirmed the reconciliation.

According to Professor Saqi, Konin Shah visited his house and apologized for the incident. He said he accepted the apology and forgave the accused.

Professor Saqi also said Konin Shah’s father had visited his residence several times. He said the car damaged during the incident had also been repaired. The loss had been compensated.

Accused Is on Bail

Konin Shah is currently on bail in the assault case. An Additional District and Sessions Court in Malir granted him interim bail against surety bonds of Rs 20,000 on September 10. The court also directed him to join the investigation.

The case relates to an incident near Safoora Chowrangi in Karachi. Professor Saqi was travelling towards the University of Karachi when a double-cabin vehicle collided with the car carrying him and his nephew.

Professor Saqi alleged that the dispute over the vehicle damage led to an assault. He and his nephew were allegedly taken to a hotel and assaulted. Police later registered a case against Konin Shah and others. The case included charges related to attempted murder, assault, injuries and wrongful confinement, according to police.

Professor Saqi had earlier declined a reconciliation offer from Konin Shah’s father. He had said at the time that he wanted the legal process to continue.
