Lahore Metro Bus Service Shutdown Looms From August 11 as Fuel Arrangement Remains Unresolved

The Lahore Metro Bus Service may be suspended from August 11 due to ongoing issues related to fuel arrangements and payments. The possible suspension could affect thousands of daily commuters who rely on the Metro Bus Service for affordable transportation across Lahore.

The private operator said the Mass Transit Authority did not make the fuel arrangements until July 29, when it had already been ordered to do so. The operator had already told the authority of its financial difficulties, it said that it now could not run the buses in Lahore with its own finances.

The Lahore Metro Bus Service may be disrupted if their fuel crisis is not addressed, the operator has cautioned. The development has led to concerns among commuters who use the service daily to get to work, educational institutions or other areas of the city.

In the meantime, Mass Transit Authority official Uzair Shah said that the authority is not allowed to make any decision without the instructions of the government. The authority will argue its case in front of the court next week, he said.

The Lahore Metro Bus Service result will be determined after the presentation of the case before the court. People using Metro Bus are reminded to adhere to official notifications on the updated Metro Bus timetable and the possible suspension of the bus service on August 11.
