Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, announced today that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is set to host the much-anticipated Marigold Festival at the iconic Frere Hall Lawn. The festivities kick off this Friday, promising three days of vibrant celebrations against the backdrop of the city’s winter season. The flower exhibition, featuring a breathtaking display of Marigold blooms, will be open to the public with free entry.
During a visit to Frere Hall on Wednesday to oversee festival preparations, Mayor Wahab emphasized the significance of the Marigold Festival, a cherished tradition of the KMC. Marigold, a winter flower, graces Karachi after six months of diligent cultivation, showcasing its radiant bloom for a two-month period.
Director General Parks and Horticulture, Junaidullah Khan, and Senior Director Information and Printing, Ali Hassan Sajid, accompanied the Mayor during the inspection. Thousands of Marigold flowers have meticulously arranged on the Frere Hall Lawn, creating an enchanting atmosphere for citizens and their families to enjoy over the three-day event.
Mayor Wahab highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance both the basic infrastructure of Karachi and the city’s parks, including the iconic Frere Hall. Plans are in place to maintain all fountains on the Frere Hall lawn in optimal condition, ensuring a delightful experience for visitors.
