Minimum Wage in Sindh Increased to Rs43,000 from July 1, 2026

The Sindh Cabinet has approved a 7.5% minimum wage increase, raising the minimum wage in Sindh from Rs40,000 to Rs43,000 per month for unskilled workers, effective July 1, 2026.

The decision was made in the Chief Minister’s House in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The new wage rates will also be used for semi-skilled workers, skilled workers and highly skilled workers in industrial and commercial establishments throughout the province.

The cabinet also approved import of 500,000 metric tonnes of wheat via the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to strengthen food security. The decision is to tackle an anticipated wheat deficit in the 2026-27 season, officials said.

The briefing said Sindh would have 4.84 million metric tonnes of wheat available for the year but demand would be 6.53 million metric tonnes, leaving a shortfall of 1.69 million metric tonnes.

The cabinet also gave approval to the 2026-27 budget of the People’s Community Health Services Company, which comprises Rs200 million in seed money and a Rs2.723 billion grant.

The cabinet also extended contracts of 254 employees of Town Municipal Corporation Lyari by one year till March 10, 2027, from March 11, 2026.

The Sindh Cabinet, among other decisions, approved extension of the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) programme in Gilgit-Baltistan, where an estimated Rs376.3 million will be required to rebuild 196 flood-damaged houses.

Proposed amendment in the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 and Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Act, 2025, Sindh were also approved at the meeting for presentation before the Provincial Assembly.

The recent decisions taken by the Sindh Cabinet are designed to promote welfare of workers, Food Security, improve public services and for long-term economic development.
