Now You Can Walk on Air! Pakistan’s First Sky Glass Bridge Approved by CM Maryam Nawaz

Punjab is stepping into a new era of modern tourism. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif just gave the green light for the province’s first-ever Sky Glass Bridge in Kotli Sattian. This isn’t just another construction project; it is a vision to turn the Murree region into a global travel hub.

During a high-level meeting co-chaired by PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, the government reviewed the “Murree Protection and Rehabilitation Plan.” The focus is clear: modernize the infrastructure while preserving the natural beauty of the hills.

A Walk in the Clouds

The Sky Glass Bridge will offer visitors a “walking in the air” experience over breathtaking valleys. This project aims to attract international tourists, putting Pakistan on the map alongside destinations like China and the UAE.

The Murree Glass Train and More

The Chief Minister is moving fast. She set a one-month deadline to start work on the Murree Glass Train project. But the upgrades don’t stop there. Here is what else is coming to the region:

• Hospitality Zones: Three new zones—Shawala, Sozo, and Brewery—will host five-star hotels.
• Eco-Tourism: A glamping pod village at Chewra Hill and a new paragliding club.
• Wildlife Conservation: Bansera Gali will feature a zoological garden with a bear house, tiger house, and bird aviary.
• Infrastructure: Road widening at Jhika Gali and a bulk water supply scheme from the River Jhelum.

The government is engaging international experts to solve Murree’s landsliding issues. Immediate relief is also underway for residents in affected areas like Darya Gali and Jhika Gali. Interestingly, the region has already seen a massive win in sustainability: over 187,000 homes now use rainwater harvesting systems, easing the water burden on local families.

To ensure everything runs smoothly, a new Facility Management Unit will now oversee the maintenance of all government buildings across Punjab.
