Pak UN peacekeeper martyred in CAR

A Pakistan Army soldier has been martyred in Central African Republic (CAR), said the military�s media wing.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations, Havaldar Muhammad Shafiq was serving in the United Nations Mission.

His funeral prayers were offered in his native town Mian Channu, Khanewal.

The martyred soldier was buried with complete military honors.

He had joined the UN Mission earlier this year in February and was a brave member of the Pakistan contingent ensuring protection of civilians along with facilitation of humanitarian assistance.

Up till now, 162 Pakistani peacekeepers have laid down their lives as part of the global mission for international peace and stability.

Havaldar Shafiq is survived by his wife and three sons.
