Pakistan Independence Day Holidays 2026: Three Consecutive Public Holidays Announced in August

Pakistanis are set to enjoy a long weekend as three consecutive public holidays will be observed on the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day 2026. The extended break expected to give families an opportunity to travel, relax, and participate in nationwide celebrations.

In 2026, 14th August is a Friday and it is a public holiday in Pakistan. The normal weekend holiday will follow on Saturday (15 August) and Sunday (16 August) bringing a total holiday of three consecutive days for citizens.

With a long weekend, it expected that travel will higher throughout the nation, with many people traveling for family vacations, visiting touristic sites, or spending quality time with family. Expect increased traffic on popular hill stations, parks and recreation areas during the holiday.

In addition to the celebrations and events, there will also Independence Day Celebrations conducted throughout Pakistan. Organizations, institutions of government, schools and public institutions expected to hold flag hoisting ceremonies, rallies, cultural programmes and special events in celebration of the 79th Independence Day of the country.
