PIA Brings 15m Sinovac Doses From China

At least 15 million doses of the Sinovac Covid vaccine were transported by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from Beijing to Islamabad.

The development was confirmed by PIA Country Manager Qadir Bux Sangi.

PIA launched special flights PAK-6852, PAK-6853, PK-6856, PK-6857, and PK-6858, respectively, and airlifted fresh consignments of Sinovac vaccine from December 10 to December 15, he said.

Recently, the Pakistani Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque had thanked China for standing by Pakistan during the fight against Covid.

“The vaccine campaign which is going on in Pakistan, the 90 per cent of it is being done through vaccines provided by China,” he had said.

Last week, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson had highlighted how the China-Pakistan joint fight against the pandemic had set a good example for the world.

“Since the outbreak of Covid, our two countries have stood together in mutual assistance,” he said while speaking to a local media outlet.

The spokesperson added that the Chinese side always attached high importance to Pakistans vaccine need.

“We have engaged in close cooperation,” he said. “China had provided strong support to Pakistan.”
