PIA Special Ashura Flights to Najaf Launched for Pilgrims

‘Operation Ashura’ Kicks Off on July 5, with Additional Flights on July 7 and July 11

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started a series of special flights to Najaf, Iraq, to assist pilgrims during the upcoming Ashura period. The initiative, named “Operation Ashura,” began on July 5, with further flights scheduled for July 7 and July 11.

These special PIA flights will not only take pilgrims to Najaf but also ensure their safe return. Return flights are set to start on July 20, with flights on July 21 and July 25 to bring pilgrims back from Najaf.

“Operation Ashura” aims to offer a seamless travel experience for pilgrims during this significant religious observance. This effort highlights PIA’s dedication to meeting the needs of its passengers and supporting their spiritual journeys.

Ashura Holidays in Pakistan

The dates for Ashura holidays in Pakistan depend on the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s decision regarding the sighting of the Muharram moon. If the moon is sighted on the evening of July 6, Muharram 1 will be on July 7. Consequently, Ashura will be observed on July 15 and 16, which fall on Monday and Tuesday. In this case, public holidays will also be on July 15 and 16.

Alternatively, if the Islamic year begins on July 8, Ashura will be on July 16 and 17. This would result in public holidays on July 16 and 17, which are Tuesday and Wednesday.
