Pillion Riding Banned on New Year’s Eve in Karachi

In a pivotal security summit hosted at the nerve center of Pakistan Rangers Sindh, Major General Azhar Waqas led a strategic review to fortify safety measures ahead of the New Year celebrations. The session addressed the pressing concerns of law and order in Karachi, focusing on curbing street crimes, snatching incidents, and ensuring robust security during the upcoming festivities.

The spokesperson for Sindh Rangers highlighted key outcomes from the meeting. Emphasis placed on intensifying the joint efforts of Rangers and the police in combatting habitual criminals. The scrutiny of entry and exit points in the city heightened, with stringent measures proposed to curb the display of weapons and aerial firing. Notably, a crackdown on double riding on motorcycles sanctioned, accompanied by stern actions against any violations of the law.

In a bid to create an impregnable security shield for New Year celebrations, a collaborative plan devised involving Rangers, Police, and other enforcement agencies. The strategy outlined enhanced patrolling and snap-checking at inter-provincial checkpoints to bolster overall vigilance.

Concerned citizens urged to play an active role in maintaining security by promptly reporting any suspicious activities or untoward incidents to stationed Rangers personnel or the dedicated Rangers Helpline at 1101.

The high-profile summit saw the participation of influential figures, including Additional IG Karachi Khadim Hussain Rand, DIGs from CTD, Special Branch, East, South, West, CIA, Traffic Police, and senior officers from sensitive institutions.

Simultaneously, Additional IG Karachi Khadim Hussain Rind issued a directive to all zonal DIGs, instructing them to file cases against individuals engaged in aerial firing during the New Year celebrations. The directive encompasses charges ranging from attempt to murder to other applicable provisions. He appealed to the public, urging them to promptly report instances of aerial firing in their localities and surroundings on the Police Helpline (15).
