PPP Launches Phase II of Free Solar Scheme for 275,000 Households in Sindh

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has officially launched Phase-II of its free solar energy initiative aimed at providing solar systems to 275,000 underprivileged households across Sindh.

On Wednesday, PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro officially commenced the implementation of the Solar Home-Based Phase-II project in Qambar Shahdadkot.

Addressing the occasion, Khuhro remarked that the project is an expression of the dream of the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari that all households in Sindh should have access to clean and affordable energy in the form of solar power. He affirmed that in the second phase 275, 000 families in the province will be provided with solar panels and other associated devices.

He added that 10,000 solar kits have been allocated for Qambar Shahdadkot alone. He claimed that 247 off-grid households were already verified, and 100 families received solar kits at the launch event.

Khuhro further emphasized the continuous rehabilitation of flood-affected regions, whereby approximately 2.1 million individuals all over Sindh are being offered newly built houses. In Qambar Shahdadkot, the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) has organized funding to construct houses in around 112,000 individuals.

He also added that the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari invited the United Nations Secretary-General to visit the Sindh province to determine the massive destruction of the recent floods.

Commenting on the broader economic situation, Khuhro said rising fuel prices, global instability, energy shortages, and inflation have significantly increased the financial burden on low-income households.
