Public Holiday Announced in Pakistan: 3 Consecutive Days Off Confirmed (May 2026)

According to the sources, the Pakistan Government has already sent out its 2026 holiday notification, including the public holiday (as well as bank and optional holidays). In 2026, May 1st, also known as Labor Day, will be on a FRIDAY and be a national holiday!

Because Labor Day is celebrated annually to acknowledge the efforts of the workforce, it is celebrated on the first day of the month (Friday); therefore, it will be observed on that day.

Labour Day will be observed on Friday, May 1, followed by the weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the notification issued by the Punjab Finance Department, all departments must make sure of timely payment before the holidays begin. The early salary payment from Punjab shows the government’s dedication to supporting its workers. Officials declared that the administration considers salary distribution before consecutive holiday periods to be its most important task.

The Government of Pakistan has already released the official list of public, bank, and optional holidays for 2026, which includes Labour Day on May 1.
