Punjab Driving License: 12,951 Learner Licenses Issued in a Day

Lahore Witnesses Record-Breaking Surge in Learner Licenses Issued Amidst Police Crackdown and Proposed License Fee Hike

In a remarkable achievement, the city of Lahore has seen an unprecedented surge in learner licenses, with an astounding 12,951 licenses issued within just 24 hours. The news comes on the heels of the Lahore Traffic Police’s crackdown against drivers without proper licenses, highlighting the importance of responsible driving.

The Lahore Traffic Police took strict action against offenders, issuing fines to drivers without valid licenses, warning over 22,000 individuals with only learner’s permits, and penalizing more than 6,000 drivers whose licenses had expired. Adopting a ‘zero-tolerance’ approach, the police urged citizens to verify the validity of their licenses before getting behind the wheel.

This surge in license applications can be attributed to the heightened awareness and accountability among citizens towards road safety. By obtaining learner licenses, individuals are taking a step towards responsible driving practices, making the roads safer for everyone.

Punjab Driving License Fees Hike Up to 788.89%

However, the surge in license registrations also follows the proposal by the Punjab Police to significantly hike license fees. The proposal suggests substantial increases across various license categories. Motorcycle license fees potentially surging by 263.64%, LTV license fees by 321.05%, HTV license fees by a remarkable 788.89%. However, learner license fees by a staggering 733.33%. The proposed fee for International Driving Licenses is also set to be Rs. 4,000.

The proposed license fee hike aims to generate more revenue and enhance road safety measures. While the fee hike may have prompted a rush for learner licenses before the potential increase takes effect, it also indicates a growing concern among citizens for adhering to traffic regulations and obtaining proper driving licenses.

The Lahore Traffic Police’s efforts, combined with the proposed license fee hike, are fostering a sense of responsibility among drivers and promoting the importance of safe and legal driving practices on the city’s roads.
