The Punjab government has introduced 10 eco-friendly electric buses in Murree to improve public transport and promote sustainable tourism in one of Pakistan’s most visited hill stations.
The government of Punjab is working on environmental pollution reduction and offering modern transportation for residents and tourists by launching this initiative on the directions of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
The green electric buses in Murree will be effective on major routes that will provide an alternative for cleaner and efficient transportation, according to the district administration. The move is expected to ease traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and improve the overall travel experience in the hill resort.
The officials added that the electric buses have also been installed to boost the transportation links between Rawalpindi and Murree, to make it easier for the thousands of people who commute and visit the area daily, particularly during the busy tourist season.
The district administration further stated that the new buses will not only ensure the comfortable, affordable and eco-friendly travel of the tourists but will also help the Punjab government’s vision of sustainable transportation in the cities.
Electric buses are set to improve public transport and promote the conservation of Murree’s natural environment, attracting millions of domestic visitors to the town annually.
