In a significant move towards empowering students, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has initiated the first phase of the Punjab Motorcycle Scheme 2024. This visionary scheme aims to distribute 20,000 bikes to students enrolled in degree colleges and universities across various cities.
The collaboration between the Punjab government and the Bank of Punjab ensures that 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes are made available through interest-free installment plans. This initiative targets students in Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Lahore in its initial phase, with the application deadline set for April 29.
Under the scheme, students can apply for either petrol or electric bikes. For electric bikes, the financing is capped at Rs250,000, while for petrol bikes, it is limited to Rs150,000. It’s important to note that if a student opts for a bike exceeding these price limits, they must pay the additional cost upfront to the Bank of Punjab.
Female students keen on availing themselves of this opportunity will be pleased to know that they are eligible to apply for petrol bikes under the Punjab Motorcycle Scheme. The official website provides clarity that both female and male students can apply for both electric and petrol bikes, including options like Scootie and Motorbike versions.
