In a collaborative effort to enhance the search and reunification process for missing and runaway children, Faisal Edhi, Chairman of Edhi Foundation, recently visited the Central Police Office to meet with IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. The meeting, attended by officials from both Edhi Foundation and Punjab Police, resulted in a strategic decision to integrate Punjab Police’s Mera Pyara app with Edhi Foundation’s system.
During the discussions, IG Punjab praised Faisal Edhi, acknowledging his significant contributions to welfare and humanitarian efforts. He assured full support from Punjab Police, appointing a dedicated focal person to coordinate with Edhi Foundation for their joint initiatives in humanity and welfare works.
IG Punjab highlighted the success of Punjab Police’s Mera Pyara app, which has reunited over 2500 missing children with their families. Focused on serving humanity, Police Tahaffuz Marakaz, under the leadership of IG Punjab, has assisted over 12 thousand people, with Victim Support Officers offering support to diverse citizens, including transgender individuals.
Faisal Edhi expressed his commitment to collaboration, emphasizing the joint efforts of Punjab Police and Edhi Foundation in locating missing children and facilitating their reunification with their parents. The integration of two-way information sharing is expected to expedite the process for reuniting missing individuals, including women and the elderly, with their families.
The meeting also delved into additional initiatives aimed at serving humanity, demonstrating the shared vision of Punjab Police and Edhi Foundation in providing relief to vulnerable sections of society.
In a parallel initiative directed by IG Punjab, police teams are cracking down on vehicles emitting excessive smoke across the province. The rigorous enforcement resulted in the issuance of 495,792 challans for violating emission standards, with 108,098 vehicles impounded and 7,127 fitness certificates seized for non-compliance.
This collaborative endeavor between Edhi Foundation and Punjab Police not only aims to strengthen the efforts to locate missing individuals but also underscores their commitment to environmental responsibility through initiatives like the crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles.
