Punjab Student E-Bike Scheme 2026

The provincial government will be distributing 100,000 electric bikes under the newly introduced Punjab e-bike program to eligible students within a year.

The electric bikes will also be subsidized by the government by Rs70,000 each making it more affordable for the students.

Male students will have to pay Rs14,000 as a down payment, the balance amount to be paid in monthly installments of Rs2,100 with no interest.

Special Relief for Female Students

This is an excellent incentive for female students as per announcement by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz regarding the Punjab government’s commitment to paying down payment and registration of their electric bikes.

The financial burden has been reduced as the monthly installment to be paid by the women students is made interest free at Rs2,100 which would further motivate them to pursue higher studies.

Punjab Employees Also Eligible

The provincial government also made it known that the initiative now extends to the working population, as government employees can now buy an electric bike using an easy instalment plan.

Punjab’s Largest Green Transport Initiative

The e-bike program is part of Punjab’s broader strategy to modernize public transport and promote electric vehicles.

In the meeting, the officials stated that in the coming five years, 5000 electric buses will be deployed statewide in Punjab. During the first phase, 1000 electric buses will be deployed in 91 tehsils in the divisions of Gujranwala, Gujrat, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad and Sargodha.

The government also pointed at the formation of an electric bus manufacturing industry in Punjab, saying it marked a major achievement due to the government’s business-friendly policies.

Overall, the current Punjab e-bike initiative is anticipated to enhance the accessibility of affordable mobility, lower transportation costs, and contribute to the province’s shift toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation methods.
