In an official announcement made by the President, it has been confirmed that Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the most senior judge in Pakistan, will be assuming the role of Chief Justice on September 17, 2023. This transition will occur as Justice Umar Ata Bandial, the current Chief Justice of Pakistan, reaches the age of superannuation as per Article 179 of the Constitution.
As per the constitutional provisions outlined in Article 175A (3), the President had previously appointed Justice Qazi Faez Isa. On September 17, 2023, the President will administer the oath of office to Justice Qazi Faez Isa, officially recognizing him as the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
