In a welcome development, consumers are set to experience reduced electricity bills in May. The Ministry of Power Division announced a significant reduction, with consumers benefiting from a Rs4.12 per unit decrease compared to March.
The move comes following a petition submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) requesting a reduction in the fuel cost adjustment from Rs4.92 per unit to Rs2.94 per unit for May compared to April. This proactive measure aims to ease the financial burden on consumers, reflecting a commitment to affordable and accessible electricity.
Notably, the power tariff for April had already been reduced from Rs7.6 per unit to Rs4.92 per unit compared to March, showcasing ongoing efforts to stabilize and streamline electricity costs.
This reduction underscores a concerted effort by authorities to provide tangible relief to consumers during these challenging times, ensuring that electricity remains affordable and accessible to all.
